Leading at Scale

The section about Always Be Deciding deeply resonates with me.

After you understand the trade-offs and how they work, you’re empowered. You can use this information to make the best decision for this particular month. Next month, you might need to reevaluate and rebalance the trade-offs again; it’s an iterative process.

It’s possible to come back to most decisions, so it’s often better to decide and move on than to stand still. This also means choosing not to do something.

This then logically goes to the section on Always Be Scaling

If dropping some number of balls is inevitable, isn’t it better to drop certain balls deliberately rather than accidentally? At least then you have some semblance of control.

It’s often better mentally to decide to not do something than attempting to keep up with everything but not having the time to do so.
